Description
Beautiful and worn M38 pattern paratrooper steel helmet, in 'as-found' condition, most likely from an attic or barn. Original green coating is present, shows surface rust and wear. The decal is present and shows similar aging with the rest of the helmet. The liner is a little bit dry, but remains complete with its rubber paddings. It shows mouse bites and damages in some parts, yet the stampings remain partially visible The chin straps are full length and complete with all press buttons but one piece also shows a mouse bite. The liner is maker marked; Baumuster: Heisier. Berlin C2, Hersteller: Metall u. Leder-Verarbeitung Werner Zahn (only partially visible). And is size marked Kopfweite Gr. 57, Stahlhelm Gr. 68. Interesting to see is that the liner shows cut straps from a helmet 'Tarnnetz'. The shell is marked on the side by ET, size 68 and has the lot number 5050. Stunning and hard to find helmet.
