Description
Original period manufacture. A typical late war example featuring a steel patina finished blade without fullers, straight guard, square type pommel and slightly contoured wooden grips. No nicks or dents to the cutting edge.Steel patina finish remains on the blade, showing scattered staining and evidence of light surface pitting. Clear markings on the ricasso. Sound, original finish wooden grips, displaying typical minor marring and denting, no cracks or chips.Natural wood surface on the two-piece wooden scabbard. Pointed steel chape, with the body bound with a single band of twine, the other was removed. Thin, 3.75 inch crack in the wood below the throat.
