British WW1/WW2 Auliff Lifebelt

In a very good condition a British WW1/WW2 RFC Auliff lifebelt also used by the RNAS they did not wear lifebelts, except when flying over water (like delivery flights from UK to France).The initial design was flawed as it was found unconscious wearers would tend to float face down, and still drown. Auliff improved the design, so this was not still an issue. The redesigned version was initially marketed as the Perrin Auliff Life Jacket. This example is marked The Auliff Lifebelt. These became standard issue during WW1 to the RNAS and occasionally to RFC personnel, for particular flights. They continued to be used by the post-WW1 Royal Air Force. This example is totally complete with original gas bottle and will inflate by the mouth peace. There are lots of markings all over. These belts remained in service until 1924, when they were finally declared obsolete, and were replaced by newer designs.But during WW2 they were also used by american glider pilots.This example comes with an american Laundrynumber marked inside.A very nice and scarce Auliff Lifebelt.
