US WWI Army Engineer Sketching Table & Tripod, Cased, 1917

Original period manufacture. A very nice, near complete example of the US Army M1917 Engineer Sketching Board, complete with tripod and compass. We purchased this as part of a large US Military collection over 20 years ago, and has sat patiently waiting for it's time in the sun (literally) until today. We have shown the set set-up for use, and packed for transport, and all components illustrated were in the case when we purchased it. The suitcase style, steel carrying case measures  17.5 x 16 x 4.25 inches. First example we have ever owned and probably the last. It makes a great display piece. Both latches are secure and tight. The leather handle has tape in the center where some of the leather deteriorated over time and use.
