Description
A WW1 French 2L waterbottle in light blue material & in quite excellent condition. Made of a smooth blue almost felt like wool this is yet another excellent example of the myriad of different materials used in the construction of items from this period & indicative of the late 1914 early 1915 period when the standard uniform colour was changed to light 'Horizon' blue as we know it now. This size of 2 Litre bottle was on general issue to front line combat troops as of 1914 thereby replacing the scarcer 1 Litre version which was used prior to the outbreak of WW1. Off white nametag to bottom , name washed out , leather carrying strap still supple & with early brass buckle & stud indicative of the earliest of issues.
