WW1 German M16 Helmet With Chinstrap

Sold
Β£775.00 β€”

Description

A WW1 German M16 steel helmet still with its original chinstrap as worn in the trenches of WW1. Totally untouched it still has a good proportion of its original factory green paint with all three liner pins totally undisturbed. Underside of rim is marked 'ET64' with soldiers name handwritten in pencil to rear skirt. The thick leather liner band is of early construction with one row of stitching to lower edge. There are three cushion holders still present albeit dry & incomplete in places. The chinstrap is its original issue with brass buckles to each side. Having at some point become dry in places this was subtly reinforced by the previous owner with leather backing.
