German WWI S98/05 Butcher Bayonet, 1920 Re-Issue, Bavarian Proof, 1917

Original era manufacture. Standard pattern S98/05 'Butcher' pattern bayonet made by Fichtel & Sachs with a 17 spine date and Bavarian crown 'L' proofs. Postwar blue steel finish to the blade with a 1920 re-issue stamp on the guard. Original finish wooden grips, with a dark steel patina pommel with an operable lock button. Post manufacture gray over paint to the dent-free steel scabbard.
