Description

Original period photography. Sepia CDV image of a French Chasseur a' Pied soldier, wearing the 1847 pattern buckle for those troops. He clasps with his left hand, the hilt of his bayonet. Of note, the United States also briefly adopted this pattern buckle our own rifle units, and some militia regiments, prior to the Civil War.
