US Indian War M1873 Entrenching Tool and Sheath

Original era manufacture. Polished steel finished blade, with an turned oak grip which is U.S. marked above the ferrule. Leather covered, U.S. marked, metal bodied scabbard with a large split-ring on the reverse. Attached to the split ring is a brass haversack hook, likely installed by the soldier for ease in carrying. The blade finish is bright with original polished surface visible, showing staining from light surface corrosion; no deep pitting or damage. Intact original leather bodied scabbard with sound stitching, displaying minor surface wear and use.
