WH (Heer) Death Notice

Death notice (Sterbebild). A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. This is a death notice for Leutnant 'Josef Stautner'. He was killed in action on 17 August 1944 at the western front. Josef is wearing his M43 cap on the photo. According to the 'Volksbund' information, Josef was buried at Fort-de-Malmaison cemetry in France (near Reims). This death notice measures approximately 11 x 7 cms in size.
