Description
Original era photography. A clear image of the officer taken at Fort Sill O.T. in the late 1890's. He is shown wearing an officers pattern M1895 forage cap, with Captain rank shoulder straps, and embroidered US & Cavalry insignia on his collar. An old penned inscription on the reverse identifies him as W.C.Brown, Major 45th Vol. Inf. An extensive bio accompanies the image, with another photo of him in later life as a Brigadier General. He served in Arizona during the Apache Campaigns of the mid-1880's, and again when he commanded Fort Huachuca and the 10th Cavalry 1914-1916. Born in 1854, he died in 1939, West Point Class of 1877.
