US WWII Era, USMC Officer Mameluke Sword Letter Opener

Original period manufacture. Overall length measures 9.5 inches with a 7.25 inch plated finish blade with etched panels on each side stating UNITED STATES MARINES. Pleasing dark brass patina finish to the guard with traces of fire gilding remainin, with a white fired enamel grip on each side, and a miniature sword knot passing through the pommel. Alloy scabbard with a plated finish and applied brass fittings. No visible makers name or country of origin, minor wear to the blade finish at the point. Really a nice quality letter opener.
