M40 Waffen-SS single decal sawdust camouflage steel helmet Q66

Stunning M40 pattern steel helmet that started its life as a single decal Waffen-SS helmet. During the summer the helmet was camouflaged using tan colored spray paint, covering the SS shield on the right side. Later during the war the helmet was camouflaged AGAIN using thick field green paint mixed with saw dust, creating the rough exterior that we can see today. The outline and shadow of the SS decal remains clearly visible on the right side. The helmet is complete with its original installed liner, the leather is in good shape but feels a bit dry. It is size marked '59'. The draw string is a genuine example but added to the helmet. The split pins remain straight and as you can see untouched. Maker marked example by Quist, size 66 (Q66). Interesting is of course the lot number 10033, that already shows a couple of known SS helmets in Brian Ice's database (see print screen).
