DRL Sports Badge in Bronze & Miniature

DRL Sports Badge in Bronze (Deutsches Reichsabzeichen für Leibesübungen in Bronze). Originally introduced as the DRA medal shortly after the 1913 Olympic games as an incentive to promote physical training among the German population. In 1933 the DRA badge was replaced by a new DRL badge of the same design. This is a nice tombak (Buntmetall) piece, maker marked by the company of 'Wernstein' from Jena, the badge is also marked with 'D.R.G.M. 35269'. The badge comes with its original matching 17mm miniature, marked by 'Wernstein'. Nice original set in very good condition!
