BRITISH WW1 OFFICER'S COMPASS - DATED 1916

Original WW1 made and 1916 dated prismatic compass. Brass case with flip up lid with glass aperture. Working dial.. Suspension ring. Lid marked VERNERS PATTERN Vll. The base retains the composition padded ring and is stamped A /l E T.COOKE & SONS No 41014 1916. Most of blackened finish remains, Grade 9. Please note: Most WW1 compasses were privately purchased by officers at British Military tailors. It is rare to find a Militray issue example marked with a broad arrow /l stamp mark.
