WW2 Army Trench Whistle by J Hudson & Co. Birmingham with Long Expanding Chain Lanyard 1945

Here on offer is an original WW2 Army Trench Whistle, by J Hudson & Co of Birmingham, still with its long metal 'expanding' chain lanyard. The nickel silver metal whistle is in excellent undamaged and full working condition. The front is stamped with the maker's name and the British Military “Crows Foot Mark” and the date 1945. J.HUDSON & Co. BIRMINGHAM 1945 Attached to the ring via a swivel lobster claw catch, is long metal chain lanyard and button loop that would allow the whistle to be attached securely to the Officer's tunic. The unusual expanding chain has small internal springs that allow it to stretch to 21” (53.3) when pulled. At rest is measures 17.5” (44.5cm) from the swivel lobster catch to the top of the button hole loop. Stamped on the chain are the letters E.P.N.C. and a British Patent No. 13212, along with the words MADE IN ENGLAND. The metal shows some tarnishing and the strap has some age wear, but no splits or repairs. The whistle measures 3.25” (8.3cm) long to the top of the ring and 0.7” (1.7cm) diameter.
