BRD : West German Bergbau (Miners) 'Schachthut' Shako, c.1950/60s.

Straight sided fez-like circular black cloth traditional ceremonial hat with gold-wire hand-embroidered border around the top edge and a large gold-wire hand-embroidered Bergbau badge on the front. This consists of two crossed mining tools within a laurel wreath. The inside is lined with black satin and a white leather sweatband. There is a small opening in the top seam for fitting a feather plume. No makers mark. Very good condition.
