Royal New Zealand Air Force Fern Lucky Charm

Here is a JR Gaunt made New Zealand “Fern” badge, worn un-officially by RNZAF air crews as a lucky talisman on battle dress pocket. Maker marked and with a pin back. Measures 1 1/4” Additional information. An Evening Post newspaper in an article, dated 24 April 1942, about 75 (NZ) Squadron noted that “In every aircraft the crews wear the silver fern badge. The men regard it as a Lucky Talisman and would not dream of flying without it. The English members of the crews also proudly wear the badge.” Check out kiwisoldier as a further reference.
