Unusual WW1 THUMS UP Brass Gilt and Enamel Brooch c1917

Sold
£25.00

Description

Here on offer is an unusual small WW1 THUMS UP brass gilt and enamel brooch. I can't find another example of this particular type of brooch? The front depicts a pair of hands, just touching, with their thumbs up. Below this are the words “THUMBS UP” set into blue enamel. On the back is an Rd No. 662624, which when the Registration Numbers are checked, dates this charm to 1917/18, towards the end of WW1. There is no makers mark or name that I can see. Various charms were given to WW1 soldiers as a “Good Luck” token that could be carried with them into battle. Therefore, it is possible it was given to a soldier or to a sweetheart as a love token? The brooch measures 0.9” (2.2cm) wide and weighs 2.3g. Please see my pictures for the details of the condition, which complement this description. Please see my TERMS OF BUSINESS regarding Deliver Charges and Insurance regarding additional insurance cover, should you require it, BEFORE the item is dispatched. The responsibility lies with the customer to check with your Customs restrictions that this item can be imported into your country.
