Cased Royal British Legion 50th Anniversary Gold Plated Medallion by SPINK & SON Ltd

Here on offer is a Royal British Legion 50th Anniversary (1921 to 1971), gold plated medallion, with its original blue case. The top of the blue leatherette covered metal hinged case has the gold lettering: BRITISH LEGION 1921 – 1971 Inside the case lid are the Royal appointment crests and details of the famous English medal maker SPINK & SON Ltd of London. The large medallion has been finely cast in what I think is copper, which has then been finished in a thick gold plating. The front depicts the British Legion badge and the reverse shows a cluster of British legion flags and poppies, with a ribbon with: 1921 – 50th ANNIVERSARY – 1971 The large medallion measures 2” (5.1cm) diameter and weighs 55.3g. The medallion is in excellent original condition with some very slight age tarnish to the finish and minor wear to the outside of the case.
