WW1 (LONDON) Crested Ware China Model of German 15cm Artillery Shell “Jack Johnson” by Arcadian China

Here on offer is a fine example of a WW1 (LONDON) Crested Ware China Model of German 15cm Artillery Shell, “Jack Johnson” by Arcadian China. On the front of the shell is the coloured crest for LONDON and on the reverse are the words JACK JOHNSON. My understanding is that 'Jack Johnson' was a British nickname used to describe the impact of the heavy German 15cm artillery shell that was black in colour. Jack Johnson was a famous black African American World heavyweight-boxing champion who held the title from 1908 to 1915. On the base you can just make out the makers name, Arcadian China, who where famous for making Crested Ware China models. This is a great piece of antique WW1 Arcadian China, which is in excellent undamaged condition. The model measures 3.6” (9.2cm) high by 1.25” (3.2cm diameter and weighs 28g.
