Lacquered brass medal serial numbered 158653 with matching numbered box named to recipient 87883493 BT 2/Lt Vermeulen. The medal is accompanied by its miniature both complete with good lengths of original ribbon. Unworn condition. This medal was awarded to all those who rendered service through being members of a South African force during the period (27 April - 10 May 1994) of South Africa's first non-racial elections and inauguration of Nelson Mandela as the country's first black President. Medals awarded to members of the British Military Advisory Team in South Africa at the time for which the Queen granted permission to wear are particularly sought after.
