Imperial : German S98/05 nA S Abg. (Sawback removed) Bayonet with Scabbard.

S98/05 nA S Abg 'Butcher' bayonet having had the saw-back officially ground off (S Abg. = Sägerücken abgeschliffen). The bayonet has a flash-guard and steel scabbard. The bayonet is marked on the ricasso 'Waffenfabrik Mauser A.G, Oberndorf a.N.' and is dated 1916. The grooved wooden grips are in excellent condition. The blade is in clean bright condition with no rust or pitting and only some light staining. The scabbard is also in excellent condition with no dents or scratches and has a nice blued finish. The reverse near the top of the scabbard is also stamped with 'Waffenfabrik Mauser A.G, Oberndorf a.N.' with a tiny iron cross beneath. Overall a nice example. BUYERS OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE ONLY.
