WW1 Boxed ''Longneck'' Periscope. T.Westerman, London.

This is a complete example still found in its cardboard box with its period instruction leaflet. Although the box has suffered from storage issues over the years, complete but as seen damaged, the inside scope is complete without damage to the wooden shafts. Both glass reflectors are present but the finish to the glass has deteriorated, no reflected image possible. The bottom metal eye piece is clearly marked to the London firm T.Westerman. I presume this is the type of item purchased by family members to be sent to there loved ones fighting in the trenches during WW1, one of many such privately bought gadgets sent to the front by loved ones here in the UK.
