Royal Artillery Unit Pennant (King's crown) - 437 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery, RA.

Unique large battery pennant for 437 Battery RA. It is 2.35 mtrs long complete with rope halyard and toggle. Printed flag-cloth with white numbers individually stitched on, all in first-class condition. There is a manufacturer's cloth label stitched on the halyard sleeve reading 'Adam & Lane & Neeve Ltd., Falcon Works, London E.3'. The Royal Artillery did not carry colours, their guns were their battle honours. Battery and regimental pennants were however used to identify individual units. At the start of World War II, 437 Searchlight Battery, RA was part of 4th Anti-Aircraft Division but in 1941 converted to a Heavy Anti-Aircraft (HAA) role. 437 Battery became part of 79 HAA Regiment RA (TA) but was transferred in July 1942 to 138 HAA Regiment as part of 9th Anti-Aircraft Division. In October 1942 AA Corps and Divisions were replaced by AA Groups and 437 Battery became part of 138 HAA Regiment, 61 AA Brigade, 3 AA Group.
