US Indian War Era, King's Patent Cartridge Box, Unissued, 1870

Original era manufacture. All leather construction with brass fittings, extremely well marked and in excellent condition. One of the patterns submitted to the Army Boards for consideration after the Civil War. Unique in that the pouch was designed to open up and fold flat for shipment and use. Internal loops for 30 cartridges, one is missing and another broken. No dry rot or finish loss.
