Description

World War 1 US Medal Grouping named to 'Carl W. Anderson' (Sevice number #51132) who was a member within the 32nd Infantry Division and got wounded in action during WW1. The grouping is including his named engraved Purple Heart and a World War I Victory Medal having 4 campaign bars attached; 'Aisne-Marne', 'Oise-Aisne', Meuse-Argonne' and 'Defensive Sector'. The Purple Heart medal is awarded to members of the US military who are wounded while in combat. Purple Hearts were first authorized by the US government in 1932, so any World War I combat veteran who received the award did not receive it until 15 years after their war service. Interesting original grouping.
