15th Middlesex (The Customs and Docks) Rifle Volunteer Corps K/C

Very scarce officer's blackened white metal helmet plate with 2 loops to reverse. Worn 1903-08 only. Raised as 26th Middlesex in 1860 by customs officers. Then in 1881 became 15th Middlesex VB Rifle Brigade. In 1908 on the formation of the Territorial Force the 15th Middlesex and 2nd Tower Hamlets were amalgamated to form the 17th (County of London) Battalion, London Regiment (Poplar and Stepney Rifles)
