Description
Original period photography. One of our favorite images is this war-time produced cabinet card (4.25 x 6.5 inches), portraying four determined French volunteers who served in the later months of 1870 and early 1871. The men have an interesting array of equipment and weaponry. Their officer is seated in a chair, flanked by two riflemen, with a trumpeter at center. Two of the men have filtration pattern canteens, with the left hand soldier proudly showing his Tabitiere rifle with fixed bayonet. Amiens photographer logo at the bottom. Minor diagonal crease in the image, difficult to see when in hand.
