Royal Naval Damage Control 1

Rating's wartime printed and unissued cloth arm badge. Badge worn by submariners and surface crew whose job was to seal off sections of the vessel that were damaged to stop the risk of sinking. This was done immediately regardless of who may still be alive in the damaged area. Saving the ship was paramount in those situations. Not a nice job but a vital one. There were different numbers and colours for different stations on the ship. This one is no.1 white on green. I also have a no.4 in orange and a no.4 in red which are available if interested
