Description

A scarce original early wartime first issue Auxiliary Fire Service silver and enamel lapel badge, the reverse marked Sterling silver and impressed with official issue number 104466, comes in good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, minor loss to the enamel, measures just over one inch long. Designed by Mr Paget of the Royal Mint and announced by the Home Office in 1938 the terms of its issue, the first being in 'Sterling Silver'.
