WW2 Merit Cross Without Swords. Maker Marked

Sold
£58.00

Description

This is a very good example of the scarce 2nd class non-combatants medal, and this one comes in very good original condition and marked on the suspender ring with the number 60 for Katz & Deyhle, Pforzheim. It also comes on its original ribbon. Awarded for gallantry or meritorious service to non-combatants, civilians and military who were not involved in any operations, such as POW camp guards etc. It is also interesting to note that there were over six million war merit crosses with swords issued and only one and a half million without swords, so a much rarer medal.
