A superb large silver or SP officers plaid brooch. Formed from the various Rifle Volunteer units in Argyllshire. In 1873 the became the 1st Admin Battalion Argyllshire Highland Rifle Volunteers. In 1887 they became the 5th Volunteer Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and redesignated 8th Volunteer Battn A&S Highlanders in 1908. A rare and super item
