6th VB Gordon Highlanders Officers Silver Badge

This is as Bloomer 223. The unit originated from the Banffshire Rifle Volunteers and became the 6th VB Gordons in 1884.Over eighty men served with the regulars in the Boer War. Now here's the odd bit. The badge has been inscribed to the front with '5th (Deeside Highland Vol BTn). Whether the officer served in both 5th and 6th Battns? Your guess is as good as mine, but a lovely old cast silver item.Two good lugs to rear
