Description

First raised in 1705 the 38th (1st Staffordshire) regiment existed for many years before being amalgamated in 1881, active through the Victorian era below are some of the engagements they were involved with. This small brass button has the Queen's crown with 38 below and the Staffordshire knot, made by Firmins London it comes in super condition and measures In 1854, it sailed for the Crimean War (1854-56), fighting at the Alma (1854), Inkerman (1854) and Sevastopol (1854-55). It was then briefly in Ireland, before being sent to India during the Mutiny (1857-59). It took part in the capture of Lucknow in 1858 and then stayed in India until 1871. During this time, it took part in the Black Mountain Expedition (1868).
