Description
This is an incredible piece of WW2 history with many Japanese signatures of well wishers painted with a brush on the cotton flag. These are considered very spiritual and were done by friends and family for soldiers and sailors going off to war to protect the bearer and remind him of home, family, his duty to the country etc. They were carried folded under the helmet, in the tunic or haversack. They were also tied to the rifle, its sling or bayonet in a Banzai charge. This flag measures 16.5 x 22 inches and is made of cotton. The corner ties are as present. The writings are names, short slogans and messages.
