Description

WWII Italian Fascist Pilot Qualification Badge Stickpin-Bronze gilt, unmarked Italian Eagle with Crown mounted onto a knurled stick pin. The bronze National Eagle is clutching a bundle of rods, and is topped with a crown. Interesting that the pilots who went south and flew with the Americans, after the surrender of Italy in '43, converted their pilot badges by cutting off the fasces. The Italian term for this symbol is 'Fascio Littorio' which translates to the Lictorian Fasces. This symbol consists of a bundle of rods symbolizing strength in unity. Interesting piece of history.
