WW1 South Africa - 9 / SAH Theatre Made Brass Shoulder Title - 9th South African Horse

A good scarce locally made hand cut sheet brass shoulder title to the 9th South African Horse (Zuid Afrikaans Ruiters). Made from sheet brass or fired cartridge and cleverly shaped to incorporate loops at either end, but all made from one piece. In very good condition. Worn 1915 - 1918.Cox confirms that the ten regiments of South African Horse wore two different titles, one in English and the other in Afrikaans. This is the English version and would have been worn on the right shoulder; the corresponding 9/ZAR being worn on the left shoulder.Owen 2368 / Cox p346 refer.Comm BoHa (464)
