WW1 South Africa - 8 / SAH Theatre Made Brass Shoulder Title - 8th South African Horse

A good scarce locally made hand cut sheet brass shoulder title to the 8th South African Horse (Zuid Afrikaans Ruiters). Made from sheet brass with two original loops soldered to the reverse. In very good condition. Worn 1915 - 1918.Cox confirms that the ten regiments of South African Horse wore two different titles, one in English and the other in Afrikaans. This is the English version and would have been worn on the right shoulder; the corresponding 8/ZAR being worn on the left shoulder.Owen 2364 / Cox p346 refer.Comm BoHa (463)
