WW1 South Africa - 2 / ZAR Theatre Made Brass Shoulder Title - 2nd South African Horse

Sold
£22.00

Description

A good scarce locally made hand cut sheet brass shoulder title to the 2nd Zuid Afrikaans Ruiters (2nd South African Horse). Made from sheet brass or fired cartridge and cleverly shaped to incorporate loops at either end, but all made from one piece. In very good condition. Worn 1915 - 1918.Cox confirms that the ten regiments of South African Horse wore two different titles, one in English and the other in Afrikaans. This is the Afrikaans version and would have been worn on the left shoulder; the corresponding 2/SAH being worn on the right shoulder.Owen 2346 / Cox p346 refer.Comm BoHa (442)
