WW1 Era Sergeants Cloth Arm Band

An intriguing one this, it has a 'home made' feel to it as the centre stripe is nicely sewn on then the two outer ones have been added with less care. It could be a sergeants arm band or if turned the other way could be service stripes, I'm not sure either way it comes in good but a little grubby condition.
