Sold
£245.00

Description

A stunning and rare WW1 brassard with an embroidered white rose on a pale grey circular formation sign sewn to a blue cloth arm brassard; buckles never fitted. Vendor states this item came from the Anderson & Garland sale of 18th June 2013 which offered for sale the family items of the Morant family. This is believed to be the property of Temp. Brigadier General Hubert Horatio Shirley Morant, ex Durham Light Infantry (DLI) who commanded 147 Brigade (mainly Duke of Wellington's Regiment battalions). See also my item 62665 where the final photo is of a copy found on the the internet of Morant and the officer seated next to him wearing this style of brassard.
