German WWII Battle Damaged M1916 Steel Helmet Shell

Original era manufacture. Original dark feldgrau paint finish, with a blurred maker and size marking on the inside of the skirt. The liner band is present, however both ventilation lugs are lost to history. Numerous bullet strikes appear on the shell, one even piercing the band itself. Shot-up postwar, or damaged in the Argonne, you be the judge. Alas poor Yorick.....
