French 1866 Pattern Chassepot Bayonet, 1869, Franco-Prussian War

Original period manufacture. Very clean 1866 pattern Chassepot bayonet made at St. Etienne in 1869. Bright blade with no corrosion issues, with a few scattered nicks in the cutting edge. Blue and steel patina finish guard, with a brass grip showing a mellow brass patina finish. Very clean blue steel scabbard which is dent-free. Mismatched numbers.
