Japanese WWII Imperial Navy Ensign, Hand Sewn

Original era manufacture. What a striking looking flag design, instantly identifying the vessel sailing under it as a Japanese warship. The flag is of wool bunting, with each ray and the central disc being hand sewn to one another. White canvas hoist with halyard loops. The flag measures 34 x 52 inches. The body of the flag is considerably soiled from service use, so grimy it had to have seen combat in every battle of WWII. Postwar this old warrior was poorly stored, the result being scattered mothing to the wool bunting. Despite this, it really has a presence to it and would be an excellent display piece.
