New Zealand Volunteers QVC General Issue Brass 1878 Pattern Helmet Plate, 1882 - 1895

In good overall condition with two of two dark toned loops to the reverse. The bugle and garter pattern was replaced in 1895 with the plate with four stars. Worn by the volunteer units which did not have a specific design. Instead they identified themselves from the initials of their corps worked in white worsted on the shoulder straps. Stain / damage gilt finish to bottom of garter strap otherwise in good condition but Sold as Seen.Corbett pp58/59 & Oldham Fig 2/1 refers.Comm DaSm
