Mid-WWII Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Capac Liner (1943 Set)

This is an original mid-WWII M1 helmet set. If in need of an American helmet, representative of any branch of service from about D-Day on 'til the war's end, this is an excellent choice. The McCord manufactured front seam fixed loop helmet shell has a heat stamp of 732D, dating its production to November 1943. Swivel loops were introduced that same month, making this one of the last fixed loops ever produced. The helmet retains its original factory finish, cork texture, and flat-buckled khaki chinstraps. The chinstraps exhibit steel hardware. There are indentations at the top of the helmet and stress cracks throughout. The Capac manufactured M1 helmet liner is quite unique in that the exterior appears to have never received a coat of paint, which may have contributed to some slight delamination of the duckcloth material at the liner's front. It features green-painted steel A-washers and a khaki suspension, dating the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It has recently been outfitted with an original double-wire headband and neckband. The headband exhibits the nickname of its former owner, 'Terry the Termite.'
