Description

A first pattern SWB officially impressed 194160 awarded to Rifleman Water Rollason, 25th Royal Garrison Battalion, Rifle Brigade. An unmarked silver circlet inscribed 'For King And Empire Services Rendered' bearing crowned 'GRI' Imperial Cypher to voided centre. In very good condition, dark toned, original C clasp and pin. Circa 32mm in diameter. Copy of CD version of SWB roll entry and copy of WW1 Medal Index Card (MIC) to be supplied.208484 Rfn Walter Rollason, 25th Royal Garrison Battalion, Rifle Brigade. Not known whether he served overseas. He enlisted on 24th February 1916 and was discharged on 4th June 1917 due to sickness, age not known. This was most probably his only medal.25th (Reserve) Garrison Battalion The Rifle Brigade (Territorial Force) formed in August 1916 in Falmouth and remained there until the end of the war.Approximately 1,150,000 badges were issued to all services, which had to be claimed and then approved. The first pattern SWB was issued between September 1916 and March 1918, and these were of a better quality than most later stampings.
