WWII Navy Painted Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Westinghouse Liner Set

Sold
$500.00

Description

This is an original WWII U.S. Navy helmet set. The McCord manufactured front seam fixed loop helmet shell's considerably early heat stamp of 59B dates the helmet's production to February 1942. Its chinstraps exhibit the early cast brass buckle, carried over from the M1917A1 helmet. The helmet's exterior retains its original battleship grey repaint, with evidence of a blue repaint beneath that. The significance of the stenciled '22' is unknown, possibly a ship's identification number. The Westinghouse manufactured helmet liner features green-painted steel A-washers, dating the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It has recently been completed with an original Enger-Kress headband and a Comfort Slipper Corporation neckband, both of which are ID'd to a Cronotti.
