Early-WWII General Fibre Co. 'Hawley' M1 Helmet Liner (Rayon Suspension)

Sold
$300.00

Description

This original WWII paper liner is rare in that it is not produced by Hawley, but rather General Fibre Co., as evident by its 'G' ink stamp. This manufacturer produced only 120,000 helmet liners during the war, with this being the earliest variation. It features non-painted steel rectangular washers, a first pattern rayon suspension, and remnants of a stationary leather liner strap, dating the liner's production to mid-1942. The Johnson & Johnson manufactured rayon suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with its original size '3' rayon neckband and a recently installed rayon headband.
